By the end of the first weekend, Reaux’s new single “Crenshaw” featuring Squally Lou, had reached over 5,000 views on Facebook alone. “I think the message and the whole vibe of this song is what people need to hear right now,” said Reaux about the single which pays tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle but also to the late Kobe Bryant.
He says he and his producer, Brandon Barre, had already recorded the record back in November 2019 but were waiting to release the single in March of 2020 to commemorate the one year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s death. “I never met Nip but I was deeply engaged in his movement. I love what he was building in Los Angeles. The network, the motivation, the community, and most definitely his entrepreneural platforms were all inspirational to millions of people around the world,” said Reaux.
When Kobe Bryant and 8 others were tragically killed in a helicopter accident in January 2020, it puzzled the world. “People are deeply saddened and heartbroken. We knew we had to add a tribute to Kobe in this song. It was only the right thing to do. The people needed it. Many of us were still trying to dissect the loss of Nipsey Hussle. The passing of Kobe Bryant just left us all even more stunned,” said Reaux
“Crenshaw” was intentionally released on January 20, 2020, the day the world remembers Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Dr. King stood for everything these two brothers lived. It seemed fit to release the single on this specific day to help mend millions of broken hearts.” Reaux received video support from Super Radio Jock, “Bay Bay” (K104-Dallas), and his media team who were on hand at many of the Los Angeles vigils for Nipsey and Kobe Bryant. “I knew the moment I heard the song that we need to partner with Reaux to lift the fans higher. It wasn’t about us but it was more about healing for the people,” said Bay Bay.
The single is now available on all music sites, including Youtube. Watch the music video below.
